The Sharks Foundation’s Goals For Kids Bobblehead Figure

Every Goal Counts Twice in San Jose

The Sharks Foundation’s Goals For Kids Bobblehead Figure comes from one of the clearest ideas in team philanthropy. Since 2014, every goal the San Jose Sharks score has triggered a $1,000 donation, pooled across the season and distributed to organisations working with young people across the Bay Area.

That gives a Sharks fan something unusual: a second reason to want the puck in the net. A goal in the third period moves the score, and it also moves a number that ends up in a school library or a youth hockey programme. This figure is a tribute to that arrangement rather than to any single season.

$2.8 Million, Eighty-One Scorers, Thirteen Seasons

The totals are specific enough to be worth stating. Goals For Kids has passed $2.8 million since it began. The record season was 2018-19, which raised $343,000. Eighty-one different Sharks players have scored at least one goal that contributed, led by captain Logan Couture with 215.

That last figure is the one that explains why a three-figure bobblehead is the right object for this. Goals For Kids is not built on one star. It is built on eighty-one players across thirteen seasons, including the ones who scored once and moved on. The programme adds up contributions from a whole roster, over a long time, and the design reflects that by putting three players on a single shared base instead of one on a pedestal.

The funds go to organisations aligned with three stated priorities: youth education, youth wellness, and access to hockey. That last one matters in a sport where equipment costs keep plenty of children off the ice before they ever try it.

A Collectible With Somewhere to Go

The box is marked #01 and carries the line Collect them All, which tells you this is meant as the opening piece of a Sharks Foundation set rather than a one-off. For a collector, a numbered first entry has a particular appeal: it is the one that establishes the shelf.

It suits the supporter whose attachment to the club goes past results. Plenty of fans follow a team through losing seasons because of what it does in the city around it, and a piece tied to the foundation says something a jersey does not.

It also makes an unusually easy gift to explain. You are not handing someone a figure of a player they may or may not rate. You are handing them a reminder that their team turned thirteen seasons of goals into libraries, programmes and ice time, and that is a story worth having on a desk.

Collectors who want the packaging intact should plan shelf space for the box as well as the figure, since the window front is part of the presentation.
