The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Advent Calendar

Forty Years Since the First Trip to Hyrule

The Legend of Zelda launched on the Famicom Disk System in Japan on February 21, 1986, sending a small hero into an open world with a wooden sword and very little explanation. Forty years later the series is celebrating with a special Nintendo Direct held in September 2026, and the live-action film, titled simply The Legend of Zelda, is scheduled for theatres on April 30, 2027.

This calendar marks the anniversary in a holiday mood. The green-and-gold box shows Link, Princess Zelda and Ganondorf in winter coats in front of a snowy Hyrule Castle, with the dates 1986–2026. Each game reinvents Hyrule, from the top-down map of 1986 to the time travel of Ocarina of Time in 1998 and the open landscapes of Breath of the Wild in 2017, yet Link, Zelda and Ganondorf stay at the centre, which is why one festive line-up can speak to players who started on very different consoles.

A Festive Cast From Across the Series

The designs gather characters from several games, many dressed for the holidays. You will find Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Epona, Navi, Midna, Majora’s Mask, a Korok and the Zora prince Sidon, along with Goron and Rito characters.

The box art uses the phrase “24 collectible figurines”, but every design is printed on a flat acrylic ornament with a hanging tab. The photos show the artwork and lay the whole set out at once; they do not show which design sits behind a particular window.

Display Ideas

The pieces look good on a green-and-gold tree, around a games shelf or next to the console. Pull off the thin surface film first, then wipe each piece with a dry cloth when it needs it.

Questions From Players

Which games do the characters come from?

The set draws on several eras, from the original Link and Zelda to characters introduced in Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild.

Can the ornaments stay up after the holidays?

Yes. Once the countdown ends, the characters can hang on a games shelf or a pinboard all year.

When should I order for a December 1 start?

Each calendar is printed to order, so allow about three weeks for delivery within the US.
