New York Giants 101st Anniversary 2026 Advent Calendar Box

The club’s legal name is still the New York Football Giants, and the reason is that in 1925 New York already had a Giants — a baseball team at the Polo Grounds — so the newcomers added a word to avoid the confusion. The baseball Giants left for San Francisco decades ago. The football club kept the qualifier, because by then it had stopped being a clarification and started being the name.

A Hundred and One

The centenary got the fanfare last year. The hundred and first is the quieter, better number — proof the club is not a museum exhibit but a thing that keeps going, one more season stacked on top of a hundred. A countdown box is a fitting way to mark it: twenty-four small days rather than one big one.

The Tray and the Doors

A moulded plastic tray sits inside a 13.5 x 18 x 3 cm paper box weighing 135 g, with dotted die-cut lines round every window so the doors lift one at a time without tearing their neighbours.

Each of the twenty-four ornaments is acrylic, 3.2 cm square, printed matte on one face and gloss on the other, with its hanging tab punched through the material. A protective film sits over one side until you take it off.

Where It Works

Blue and red read cleanly on a shelf at eye level, which is also where somebody remembers to open a door before leaving the house. Keep it away from radiators and out of anywhere damp; the box is paper and behaves like paper.

Looking After the Ornaments

Dry cloth, gentle pressure, nothing wet. Acrylic hazes under damp or abrasive cleaning and stays hazed. Slot them back into the tray at the end of the month and they come out next December as they went in.

What Buyers Usually Ask

Is the club really called the New York Football Giants?

That is the formal name, dating from 1925 when the city’s baseball club had first claim on Giants. The extra word never went away.

Are hooks included?

The tabs are punched and ready, but hooks are not in the box. Standard ornament hooks or a loop of thread both do the job.

Can two people share one calendar?

Easily — twenty-four pieces split evenly, and plenty of households alternate who opens the door each morning.

Will the print fade on a sunlit shelf?

Direct, all-day sun is hard on any print. A spot with indirect light keeps the colours where they started.
