Love, Hate and Hockey, Counted Down Day by Day
Rachel Reid’s novel Heated Rivalry, part of her Game Changers series, follows two star players from rival teams who spend years pretending they cannot stand each other. The television adaptation, with Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie as Ilya Rozanov, brought the story to a much wider audience. The plot follows the two across several seasons, from rookie years to the moment they stop hiding, which is why fans call it a slow burn, and its creators have said a second season, drawn from the sequel The Long Game, is aiming for April 2027.
Until then, this calendar fills December with the pair. The box, labelled as an acrylic ornament collection, promises “24 moments of love, hate and hockey”.
The Moments Behind the Windows
The designs follow the relationship the way fans do. There are face-offs and celebrations on the ice, a shared skyline view in jerseys 10 and 12, snowball fights, a snowman, Santa hats, popcorn on the sofa and a blanket for two.
Smaller pieces add the inside jokes: a pair of mugs marked “Rivals”, skates, sticks, a cap, a duffel bag, a tactics board with a heart and a book stack titled with late-night texts, practice sessions, rivalries, slow burns and happy endings.
Each one is printed on a flat acrylic ornament with a hanging tab. The numbered grid in our photos is there to show the whole set and does not reveal which design sits behind a given door.

Fan Questions
Is it based on the books or the show?
The artwork uses illustrated versions of Shane and Ilya and references moments that appear in the story, so it suits readers and viewers alike.
Are the designs romantic?
