Pittsburgh Steelers Charlie Brown Christmas 2026 Bobblehead

A Towel, a Blanket and a Lot of Loyalty

Linus never goes anywhere without his blue security blanket. Steelers fans never go to a game without the Terrible Towel. Broadcaster Myron Cope invented the gold towel for a playoff game in December 1975, and it has been waved at every big Steelers moment since. Its profits go to a Pittsburgh school for people with intellectual and physical disabilities, so the towel has done good off the field too.

Peanuts and Pittsburgh share that idea: some things are worth holding on to.

The Details

Six Super Bowls

The Steelers have won six Super Bowls, tied with New England for the most in NFL history:

1. IX (1974 season) and X (1975): the Steel Curtain defense and Terry Bradshaw.
2. XIII (1978) and XIV (1979): four titles in six years, a run no other team has matched.
3. XL (2005): Jerome Bettis’s farewell game in his hometown of Detroit.
4. XLIII (2008): Santonio Holmes’s toe-tap catch in the final minute.

The Rooney Way

Art Rooney founded the team in 1933, and the Rooney family has run it ever since. From 1969 through 2025 the Steelers had only three head coaches, Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin, a level of stability unlike anywhere else in American sports. Fans often say Pittsburgh is a Steelers town first and a city second.

The logo tells its own story. The Steelmark came from the American steel industry, a nod to the mills that built the city. The Steelers are the only NFL team that wears its logo on just one side of the helmet.

A Pittsburgh Christmas

December in Pittsburgh means the tree at PPG Place, ice skating downtown and cold games at Acrisure Stadium. A Charlie Brown in black and gold, standing in snow next to a decorated tree, fits right into that season.
